In diesem Jahr feiert die Merce Cunningham Dance Company ihren 50. Geburtstag. Eine weltweite Tournee aus diesem Anlaß gab uns die Möglichkeit, sie wieder nach Berlin einzuladen. Für das Jubiläumsjahr wurden auch "historische" Stücke wieder aufgenommen, daher bieten die beiden Programme einen Querschnitt des choreografischen Werkes von Merce Cunningham. In seinen mehr als 200 Choreografien setzte er sich immer wieder mit allen Formen der zeitgenössischen Kunst auseinander und schuf so eine ideale Verbindung von Stil und Technik. Jeder Auftritt der Company begeistert durch Frische und überraschende Kreativität.
