THE FESTIVAL
TANZ IM AUGUST focuses on current developments in dance and performance. This year´s large-scale productions include the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault from Montréal and Pina Bausch´s Tanztheater Wuppertal. On the whole, the program shows a "return to movement", work that goes beyond the abstract exploration of "pure choreography". For example, Tere O´Connor, whose work makes a political statement, or Meg Stuart and Andréya Ouamba, whose pieces explore various aspects of the body such as its cultural self-understanding, its relationships, economic value, and forms of artistic expression. With the work of such fresh talents as Mette Ingvartsen, Isabelle Schad and Simone Aughterlony, we present some of the new directions taken by a younger generation of artists.
We look forward to seeing you at the festival!

PARTIES
There will be four parties during the festival – a great opportunity for you to dance, meet other festival-goers, and just generally have a good time.
INTERVENTIONS
Dance and performance are embedded in a social context. As Béatrice Kombé, a choreographer from the Ivory Coast, recently said: "As an artist you are always in the stream of politics." We have therefore supplemented our program with a series of events we call INTERVENTIONS.
These include 3 narrations, films, an online diary as well as 5 "pas de deux", dialogues revolving around themes that, though not explicitly dealt with in the productions, are of interest to us and the participants in TANZ IM AUGUST.
