A Life in Four Hours is an experiment in urban memory. Contemporary figures tell their life stories, each to a listener of his or her choice. An autobiographical novel in a four-hour format. Speaker and listener sit in an enclosed space. The audience experiences the dialogue via headphones and video projection.

Xavier le Roy (*1963), Doctor of Molecular Biology and one of the most important choreographers of contemporary dance today. Listener: Bojana Cvejic (*1975), performance theorist, musicologist and performer.
Rostock / Berlin (in deutscher Sprache)
Nele Hertling (*1934), künstlerische Leiterin des Hebbel-Theaters 1988-2003. Zuhörerin: Reinhild Hoffmann (*1943) Ausbildung u.a. bei Kurt Joos an der Folkwangschule in Essen und eine der wichtigsten Vertreterinnen des modernen Tanzes.

Jan Ritsema (*1945), director, actor, dancer. Teacher at P.A.R.T.S., Brussels. Listener: Rebecca Schneider (1963), Associate Professor of Theater and Performance Studies at Brown University, USA.
RESIDENCY
From July 29th until August 7th Michael Laub & Remote Control Productions will rehearse two new solo works with dancers Astrid Endruweit and Greg Zuccolo respectively to be presented at Tanz im August 2005. |

Ersatzstadt ist ein Initiativprojekt der Kulturstiftung des Bundes in Kooperation mit der Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz und wird in wechselnden Präsentationen von zwei Kuratorenteams, metroZones (Becker/ Lanz) und Tulip House (Hurtzig/ Franke) realisiert.
