PROGRAM!: OVER AND OVER with Janez Janša* and Olga Pona, Xavier Le Roy, Meg Stuart, Gisèle Vienne, Alice Chauchat and Felix Ruckert
PROGRAM!: OVER AND OVER deals with the moment in performer’s work in which he recognizes, that he went over his/her limits. How do you work with limits? how do you define it?, what happens after crossing it – do you set new limits?, do you step back?... What are the limits you put: limits in body, timespace, politics, audience relationship, expectations? These questions are going to be asked performers, dancers, choreographers in a form of dialogue demonstrations.

THE MONSTERS (WE ARE) by this is the hello monster (an avant-pop solo band) / Gerald Kurdian
The concert is: „a shiver between seventies horror movies and domestic plastic trees (in the wind). Using micro-actions and chansons d'amour, it goes ouh ouh, la la la in the darkening night.” G. Kurdian

Gerald Kurdian studied fine arts in Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts de Paris-Cergy, before taking part in the EX.E.R.CE 07 contemporary dance program directed by Mathilde Monnier (Le Centre Chorégraphique de Montpellier) and Xavier Le Roy. His performances have been shown in various places such as La Villette, Lelabo, Les Louvrais - Scène Nationale de Cergy, le Théâtre 95, le Cube, la Maison Populaire, l'Abbaye de Maubuisson, Les Subsistances, Centre Chorégraphique de Montpellier and during the festivals Les Numériques, Pelouses Autorisées and Uzès Danse. He is currently working on "1999", a lo-fi performance on space-operas, and composes love songs for the first album of “This Is The Hello Monster”, his avant-pop solo band.

JONATHAN COVERING by Jonathan Capdevielle
Feeling nostalgic for her nights in Tarbes (close to Lourdes), she recalls her memory of all time hits, and dreams that some day, lost in the nights of Berlin, she will reveal her songs to all...

REMAKE by 'aisikl with Peter Lenaerts, Eszter Salamon, Ephraim Cielen, Youri Van Uffelen, u.a.
„The skill of working in a group is for the members to change while remaining a group”. P. Lenaerts

“They could have made things easier. Or can you see yourself going to the record store and asking for the new album of this wonderful band called "open square bracket, apostrophe, aisikl, close square bracket". Still. You should do it, cos it's worth it. It will be impossible to find music this year that is as beautiful as this veiled guitarpop from ['aisikl]. This album is a small wonder and when everything goes well, your record store will be prepared when you come in asking for them.” Berlin 030

“Homegrown and super good: ['aisikl]. (...) In their own words, the nine songs on this 'Analogue Root' were captured from 10 years of ['aisikl] material, are played by a loosely fixed band and change form constantly and are thus never finished. And yet this album sounds very finished and in one way or the other, very mature, my apologies for this ugly word. The riffs are deliciously melodic and brittle, roll in in layers and are supported where necessary by a strong rhythm section, or better, answering machines with scandinavian women's voices that you could fall in love with instantly. The competition is gonna have to do their best.” Nil Ramos, Rif Raf, Belgian magazine

HALF A TRAIN by David Bergé and DD Dorvillier
"David Bergé, a Berlin based photographer who works in the performing arts field and DD Dorvillier a choreographer and performer living in New York have a conversation through daily photographs exchanged via e-mail, over the course of several months. The direct, unsubtle and unfading aspects of photography ironically push what started as an intimate conversation, through visual fragments of real private lives, into a public realm."

David Bergé (Fotograf, Berlin/Brüssel) und DD Dorvillier (Choreografin, New York) schickten sich über mehrere Monate hinweg täglich ein Foto per Email. Ein privater Austausch unvergänglicher visueller Fragmente. Der Versuch sich einander zu zeigen.

DD Dorvillier has created experimental and multi-media performances in New York City since 1989, with works commisssioned by venues like The Kitchen, PS122, and Danspace Project. She has collaborated and worked with a variety of artists including: Jennifer Monson, Jennifer Lacey, Yvonne Meier, Sarah Michelson, Karen Finley among others. DANCING IN THE STREET by Frans Poelstra
A short 'real-live' drama featuring two young girls making their dance.

Dancing in the street - the story behind the video

“One day I was calling with Robert Steijn, my partner in the arts. Robert and I just had started to work on our performance 'Frans Poelstra, his dramaturge and Bach'. During our phone conversation I looked outside the window of my apartment in Amsterdam and I saw two girls rehearsing their dance steps on the street.  I said to Robert I had to film something and I hang up. I didn't know why but somehow I felt a connection between our conversation and the two girls. I did not think of this then, it was more an intuitive decision but later I realized this connection, two older men and two young girls making their dance.

What happened during the filming there below my window came as a total surprise to me. The only thing I told myself during was not to move and to zoom the camera (I did a little), trying to let everything happen within the frame. Later the video ended up in our performance and now for the first time it is shown separately.

As a little bonus you see Robert Steijn with the assistance of Milli Bitterli rehearsing the choreography of the girls. I never met the girls because shortly after I made this video I moved from Amsterdam to Vienna.” Frans Poelstra

BETWEEN TWO CHAIRS (2006) by Jorge Léon

Film maker Jorge Léon presents in Between two chairs a video portrait based on an interview with the former dancer Ronald Burchi. After training as a modern dancer in the USA, the American Burchi used to live and work in Europe in the early nineties, didn't manage to tie work permits to his actual working situation and ended up with an illegal status - a situation which is actually more common in the dance world than we know or want to admit -, to eventually go through a legalisation procedure in Belgium. Between two chairs sheds light on the many realities of the “Alien Resident”, showing the fragile balance between the artistic visibility of international artists and their social and political rights. In this work, Jorge Léon continues his artistic research on the format of the video interview as a potential portrait.

Jorge Léon studied film at INSAS in Brussels and has been working as a photographer and film maker with a specific interest in the documentary. He has collaborated with many people in the performing arts field, including Eric Pauwels, Wim Vandekeybus, Thierry De Mey, Michèle Anne De Mey, Olga De Soto, Hervé Robbe, Xavier Lukomski, Meg Stuart and Benoît Lachambre. Since 2003 he creates documentary film work, including “de sable et de ciment”, and “U bent hier/Vous êtes ici/You are here”.

Director: Jorge Léon / Production: vzw Niels, Sarma / Co-production: Damaged Goods, Kunst/Werk / Duration: 16’ 25’’ / With the support of the Flemish authorities and the Flemish Community Commission.

MEG STUART’S ALIBI (2001) by Maarten Vanden Abeele

I
n “Meg Stuart´s Alibi“ schafft der Belgische Fotograf eine visuelle Reflektion über Tanz, Wort, Bild und Bewegung in Stuarts Stück.

In 2001 the Belgian photographer Maarten Vanden Abeele was commissioned by Damaged Goods to make the digital film 'Meg Stuart's Alibi', in which he recreates 'ALIBI', a work by choreographer Meg Stuart and her company Damaged Goods, into a visual reflection about dance, word, image and movement. In 'ALIBI' (2001) Meg Stuart creates a theatrical environment in which a physical and a virtual presence are confronted. The desire for the real clashes with a reality that has become a spectacle.
