Sommer 2007: Drei slowenische Künstler lassen ihre Namen offiziell in Janez Janša ändern. Diese Kombination von Vor- und Nachname besitzen "nur ca. 10 Slovenen", unter ihnen der jetzige slowenische Premierminister. In ihrer neuen Produktion arbeiten die Künstler am Thema Biografie – verstanden als kulturell und politisch bestimmtes Konstrukt, das sowohl in die Vergangenheit als auch in die Zukunft reicht. Dabei überschreiten sie die Grenzen zwischen bildender und darstellender Kunst im Hinblick auf das Erleben des Zuschauers und dessen Einfluss auf die Zeit, d.h. die Dauer und Geschwindigkeit der Rezeption des Werkes. Das Stück hat im Oktober 2008 in Ljubljana Premiere. Die Voraufführung bei Tanz im August wird zwei Formate anbieten: eine klassische Abendvorstellung am 22. AUG und eine offene Installation am 23. AUG.
In the summer of 2007, three Slovene artists officially changed their names to Janez Janša. Only approximately 10 Slovene citizens are identified by this relatively rare combination of name and surname: among them the current Slovene Prime Minister. In their new production, the Janez Janšas cross the border between visual and performing arts. JANEZ JANŠA is a piece about biography: biography in terms of past but also future events. Biography is an imaginary trajectory through history and can be a matrix to project into the future. To what extent is biography as an artistic construct culturally and politically determined? The work in progress version at TANZ IM AUGUST will offer two different experiences – one as an evening performance (AUG 22nd) and the other (AUG 23rd) as an installation.
