EUR 10 /// 70 MIN /// 26 + 27 AUG / 20 h KINDERTOTENLIEDER ist ein poetischer und wunderschöner Black-Metal-Horrortrip. Die französische Choreografin und Puppenmacherin Gisèle Vienne schickt ein Panoptikum dunkler Gestalten auf ihre von dichtem Schneefall bedeckte Bühne: die alpenländischen Schreckgestalten der Perchten, animierte Puppen und schwarze Kapuzenträger verwischen in ihrer Performance die Grenze zwischen Realität und Fiktion. Die Performance mit Texten des amerikanischen Autors Dennis Cooper und der Musik von KTL untersucht Formen der Furcht im Zusammenhang mit dem Tod und ihre Bewältigung in Ritualen und Zeremonien. Der Komponist Peter Rehberg aka Pita und Black Metal-Gitarrist Stephen O‘Malley von SunnO))) arbeiteten für die Produktion über die Kindertotenlieder von Friedrich Rückert. Entstanden ist eine klaustrophobische Atmosphäre aus harschen elektronischen Sounds, Sub-Bässen und zerrigen Gitarrendrones. “In this project, I will focus on how the body is represented in traditional Austrian iconography. This will allow me to tackle the issue of the representation of death and the horrific. KINDERTOTENLIEDER is inspired by an Austrian tradition in which men dress as ‚Perchten‘, mythical creatures who appear in midwinter to offer protection against demons and punish the souls of the damned. This custom is still alive today and evokes fantasies of cruelty, innocence and expiation.” (Gisèle Vienne) Costumed figures, imaginary or real, both live figures and animated lifesize puppets, emerge from the snow to take part in a ritual celebration. In this ceremony the imagined and real bodies are indistinguishable against the opulent images on stage. With her partner, American writer Dennis Cooper, Gisèle Vienne examines the blurring of reality and fantasy in the collective sphere.
